Story Submission Rights and License

By submitting a story to the Lagos Youth Storytelling Challenge through the PlotWeaver platform, the entrant (and their parent/guardian, if under 18) grants PlotWeaver Limited a worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, transferable, and sublicensable licence to:

  • Use, copy, modify, adapt, reproduce, publish, translate, display, perform, distribute, and create derivative works from the story submission in any media now known or later developed.
  • Use the story for marketing, educational, commercial, or promotional purposes related to PlotWeaver or its partners.
  • Produce short films or other content based on the story, with full creative discretion.
  • The entrant affirms that the story is original, does not infringe any third-party rights, and agrees that PlotWeaver has exclusive rights to determine how the story is evaluated, adapted, or presented across media platforms.
    Entrants will retain moral credit and will be acknowledged publicly where appropriate, but PlotWeaver retains full usage rights as outlined above.
    By submitting, you acknowledge that you have read and agreed to these terms.

    Lagos Youth Storytelling Challenge 2025 Terms and Conditions

    Effective Date: 1st August 2025

    Please read these Terms and Conditions ("Terms") carefully before participating in the Lagos Youth Storytelling Challenge 2025 ("the Competition") organised by PlotWeaver Limited ("we," "us," or "our"). By submitting an entry, you (and your parent/guardian, where applicable) agree to be bound by these Terms.

    1. Information We Collect:

  • The Competition is open to all students currently enrolled in junior or senior secondary schools within Lagos State.
  • Entries must be submitted through the official competition portal: www.lagosstorytelling.ng
  • Only one submission is permitted per student.
  • 2. Consent and Data Compliance

  • All participants under the age of 18 must obtain parental or guardian consent prior to submission.
  • By submitting an entry, participants agree to our use of their data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR).
  • 3. Submission Guidelines

  • Stories must be original, unpublished, and written by the participant
  • Entries must align with the theme: **"My Lagos Story."
  • Content must not contain hate speech, discrimination, graphic violence, sexual content, or plagiarism.
  • 4. Evaluation Process

  • All entries will undergo compliance review via PlotWeaver Story Check AI.
  • Compliant entries will be judged based on originality, narrative quality, creativity, structure, and relevance.
  • The final evaluation will be conducted by a panel of independent human judges.
  • 5. Prizes and Recognition

  • Zonal winners (6 junior and 6 senior) will each receive ₦500,000, branded merchandise, and access to training and studio visits.
  • Two overall winners (junior and senior) will receive additional cash prizes (₦2 million for junior, ₦3 million for senior), laptops, family getaway trips, ambassador roles, and the production of their stories into short films.
  • 6. Story Ownership and Usage Rights
    By submitting a story, participants grant PlotWeaver Limited an irrevocable, royalty-free, worldwide licence to:

  • Use, reproduce, adapt, publish, and distribute the content;
  • Create derivative works for educational, promotional, and commercial purposes;
  • Feature the story in anthologies, media broadcasts, festivals, and digital platforms.
  • Participants and their families acknowledge that no further compensation will be due beyond the listed prizes.
  • 7. Intellectual Property

  • Entries that violate these Terms, applicable laws, or ethical standards may be disqualified without notice.
  • All moral rights to attribution will be maintained where applicable.
  • 9. Modifications

  • All submitted content must be the original work of the participant. Any plagiarism will result in immediate disqualification.
  • PlotWeaver reserves the right to modify or terminate any aspect of the Competition, including these Terms, at any time, with or without prior notice.
